Little Manatee River State Park

We spent Sunday afternoon at Little Manatee River State Park.

The park is located about 30 minutes from our RV Resort. River Oaks is on the same river, only much closer to Tampa Bay, where the Little Manatee empties.

It was nice to get out and do some hiking.

Wish we had our canoe. It's home in Minnesota.

Speaking of Minnesota, our pine trees don't have Spanish moss.

We were the only people on the trails.

This is what Florida looked liked before it was covered in cement.

Today we move to Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey, about 40 miles further south. We will miss our quirky friends from River Oaks. The management of this resort struggles and their residents are not a happy group. Too bad. I wish people would play nicely together.  Time to start packing up our little home and head south.

It's hard to imagine that the state of Florida used to look like that! I am glad that State Parks exist - helps us imagine what it was like before man came along and changed things!

Safe travels to your next site! I am loving these daily updates! Keep them coming!!

Gorgeous pictures!!! Do you guys run into any snakes hiking in terrain like that? I can't even imagine the creepy critters in those swamps. So beautiful!

Enjoying reading your recaps of your adventures :)

No snakes yet, Abby. We have seen them on the trails on earlier hikes down here, but nothing that I would consider scary. Lisa, we are thankful for state parks, too, having spent considerable time in them over the years. We also seek out Scientific and Natural Areas, where native species are even more prevalent.
